Nokia N95 RM-159 updated to V30.0.015

Hi All,

After a great hardship I am able to update my Nokia N95 Classic to Firmware V30.0.015.

I am using this firmware from 12 hrs and have found some pros-cons for the Firmware update.

Pros:

  1. There is a huge stability in Wi-Fi connection. Earlier as you are out of the Wi-Fi access point my mobile use to search for a while for a access point and after a while it use to restart itself. But now if it does not find any Wi-Fi it does not restarts. Seems like there was buffer overflow problem which is fixed.
  2. Camera quality is slightly increased. The pixels seems to be more clear in night photographs.
  3. Sound clarity in music player is increased. When you increase the volume the sound quality becomes more fine. Getting an IPod like experinence.
  4. The Gallery to view photos videos has become fast and its more stable.
  5. New N95- 8GB theme added in this update.
  6. Native Ngage application added.
  7. Some tuning is done for Battery consumption.
  8. Increase in the Radio Volume
  9. Auto Rotation of Screen.
  10. Web Browsing is same as Desktop Browsing due to browser Updates.
  11. Integration of OVI Share.

Cons:

  1. In Music Player when keeping on loud speaker, decreasing the volume to 20-30 will start breaking the sound. You will hear some static noice coming through speaker. I checked for 10 songs it the sound come in all songs at low volume.
  2. Checked the 3D surround Ringtone. This has stopped working. Tried all types of effects nothing is working.

Will post more as when i get something to know if its working or not.

Till that time have a good update.

Enjoy!

Working of mobiles on Aircraft in EU

The plan is to install small mobile phone base stations, called pico cells, in aircraft that will be switched on after take-off. The base station generates a bubble of coverage in and around the aircraft.

Calls made via the pico cell will be routed to terrestrial networks via satellite link. Across Europe radio spectrum has been set aside for the technology.

The services could stop working once aircraft leave European airspace.

Martin Selmayr, spokesman for Ms Reding’s office, said that flight captains would be able to switch off the on-board service if they felt it necessary.

Initially, only second generation networks will be offered but growing interest would mean that third generation, or 3G, services will follow.

The first flights offering calls could start as early as next month.

Air France is believed to be ready to deploy the technology while Ryanair is expected to submit an application.

The cost of making a mobile phone call from a plane will be higher than making one from the ground.

In the UK, regulator Ofcom said it would investigate and address any evidence of “excessive charges and abuses of competition” if prices were set unfairly by airlines and mobile networks.

Ms Redding has said the EC had no plans to cap the cost of calls made on planes.

The European Commission backing means planes registered in one country would be able to offer mobile communications services to passengers when flying over other EU countries without having to apply for additional national licences.

MobiTubia wont be released!

Hi All,

Its a very bad news for all the Symbian Smartphone users waiting for MobiTubia that the developement of the application is stopped by the developer.

He has posted on his site that he has stopped the development due to his  Degree thesis.

It is a shocking news to all the users that the developer has not even released the beta version to public and even said to all the testers that the beta version should not be shared.

The story has ended with very cheap note and really all of wont accept such type of comments from the developer.

For more info visit the MobiTubia developer site at http://www.mobitubia.com/blog.php
